At GSI’s Social Media Brunch / #GSIsmb on April 2nd, our special guest speaker was Dave Barger, also known to Twitterfolk as @lalunablanca. Dave joined #GSIsmb via video conference from Memphis, where he runs a marketing and interactive agency called Lunaweb.
Dave made the connection with GSI when both Dave and GSI’s Julio Fernandez / @socialjulio were among the lucky rejects at the SXSW Twitter for Marketing session. Dave, Julio, and a crowd of other Twitter luminaries and newbies created their own impromptu seminar after being locked out of the official session due to lack of space. Word on the street is that #tweethall (as the impromptu session has been dubbed) was perhaps the more interesting of the two discussions. It is, at least, the session which created the most buzz!
With Dave leading the conversation by video and Julio driving the online chat, the April #GSIsmb featured a great recap of the #tweethall experience, as well as a general overview of Twitter techniques, tips for using Twitter for business marketing, and recommendations for anyone planning to attend SXSW and other social media conferences.
After #GSIsmb we were dismayed to discover that our conversation didn’t record, but just as with the SXSW session overcrowding, it turns out that our snafu was actually a happy accident! Instead of an archive of #GSIsmb, we now have a Twitter tutorial video put together by Dave, recapping the conversation with excellent visual aides.
This video is an important resource for anyone who wants to learn what Twitter is and how to join the conversation, and it’s also an excellent refresher course for old Twitter pros.
